"Blue Skies" is the story of Gray Bennett, an out-of-work novelist who rediscovers his passion for life after a chance encounter with a free-spirited young woman who harbors a tragic secret.

The film opens with Gray standing on the edge of the Moss River Bridge, obviously at a very serious turning point in his life. Time flashes back to the recent past, and Gray is out with his friends, Sully and Ryan, who are trying to help him get over the loss of his job in the purchasing department of a major corporation.

Sully, who has long held an unrequited torch for Gray, gives up on him and his inability to take charge of his life, and together she and Ryan go for new drinks. While gone, a curious young woman named Skylar slides into the seat across from Gray. This unexpected introduction will alter the course of Gray's life forever.

Over the course of an evening spent at an exotic cafe, a local playground, and at the city's beautiful river front, Gray and Skylar discuss everything from God and life to the nobility of sacrifice and what they'd do if the end of the world was near. In the process, Gray discovers something in himself that he'd been missing for quite some time, something that just might help him take control of his life.

But when Skylar's secret is revealed, Gray risks losing all that he's gained by knowing her, and finding himself more adrift than he's ever known...
